| President's Message I want to summarize a couple of things that were approved/discussed at last month’s meeting. To begin, the Board approved monies to begin making building improvements, lighting improvements, etc..., which were mentioned in last month's message. A very important topic was presented by Steve Denney and Roe Sansone regarding our efforts to obtain a 50Ic3 status. Briefly, they recommended that we take a different approach whereby we form an AAIC Foundation, which may qualify for 501c3 status. This, of course, involves legal issues and so forth. However, as a first step in getting this process started, they requested that we form a committee of knowledgeable people with expertise in matters pertaining to foundations. Therefore, anyone with expertise is urged to contact Steve or Roe. A word about entertainment: Our entertainment manager, John Ficarra continues to do a great job in bringing on new entertainers as well as maintaining our favorites. Needless to say, the cost of entertainment doesn't come cheap. So, stop by. Talk to John and ask him how he budgets the costs and why he loves what he does. A word about the bar: Since the first of the year, we have hired five new bartenders plus a new bar manager, Dan Brownell. Simply put, they don’t know all the members, so they sometimes need to ask to see your membership card. They don’t like asking you any more than you like being asked, however, they do so to protect the club. Should an official of the state liquor Board come in, mingle in with the crowd, and get served, the club could be liable for a large fine, or worse, get our liquor license revoked or suspended. As a private club, we can only serve members and guests accompanied by members. Thank you for your patience. Two special charitable events will take place in April: The first event is the Special Olympics Bocce Tournament to be held on Sunday morning. April2nd_ and will be hosted by Frank & Donna Koopman. The second event is the Healing the Children event to be held on April 8th and will be hosted by Joe and Rev DiTommaso. Both are for very worthy causes, so please come out and show your support. See the details for both of these events on page 3 of the newsletter. Gene Rossi President |
